Railroad Police Shoot, Kill "Suspicious" Man

Railroad police shot and killed a man Monday night near the Canadian National Railway tracks in Homewood.

Two officers responding to a call of a suspicious person hiding in bushes near the Homewood commuter rail station at about 9 p.m., according to the Chicago Tribune.

The officers identified themselves as they ordered the hiding man to come out from the bushes.

"The man refused and ran south along the tracks toward the commuter parking lot," said CN spokesman Patrick Waldron.

A police pursued the man, they say that he pulled a gun on them and fired.

One of the officers returned fire, shooting and killing the 48-year-old man.
