Kennedy Expressway to Be Shut Down in Spots Overnight

If you're a third-shift worker or you'll be out and about tonight, you need to know this.  Midnight to 3 a.m., avoid the Kennedy Expressway near O'Hare.

From a ComEd Release:

To allow ComEd crews to repair a damaged power line over Interstate 90 near East River Road, a portion of Interstate 90 will be temporarily shut down early Wednesday morning.

From midnight to 1 a.m., traffic between the River Road and Cumberland exits will be reduced to a single lane in both directions to accommodate ComEd equipment. From 1 a.m. until approximately 3 a.m., traffic in the remaining lanes will be periodically stopped to allow crews to safely work on overhead lines that cross the Kennedy Expressway.

The road closure is necessary to safely repair damage identified by ComEd crews earlier today. It has been scheduled to occur at this time to affect as few drivers as possible.
