You Should Do This: 21st Century Solutions $50,000 Grant Challenge

Hey you, up in your sparkling ivory tower. What's the matter? You don't like free money?

Now that I've got your attention, let me slip on my peacock sweater and hip you to something pretty cool from the NBCUniversal Foundation and NBC Chicago.

We partnered with our relative namesake to 21st Century Solutions, a "local grant challenge for nonprofit organizations implementing new and innovative programs." So, if you're doing something new and innovative in the nonprofit world, you could have a shot at a $50,000 grant. Two runners-up will each receive $25,000, which, as I probably don't have to tell you, is a lot of pickle money.

The foundation will accept applications for programs addressing emerging or ongoing issues in the following areas: arts and media, civic engagement, jobs and economic empowerment, community development, technology and innovation, education and environment. So, do it up, skip, if this applies to you.
