Local Daily Deal Scene Bolstered by Recent Acquisitions

Groupon isn't the only daily-deal game hustling in Chicago, but you'd be forgiven for thinking so since it gets talked about so freakin' much in the media and around offices all over Chicago.

Well, earlier this week, both Doggyloot and Local Offer Network both announced, separately, they've acquired other companies -- moves that got overshadowed slightly with Google, and not Groupon, snatching up Clever Sense.

Anyway, the Chicago Tribune is reporting that Doggyloot (which peddles deals to dog owners or anyone who just appreciates a fine leather collar) has scooped the Florida-based PetSimply into its dog house and that the LON has acquired Redeemio.com, a deal aggregation and shopping site based in Raleigh N.C. that also sounds like a type of lettuce.

You can, nay, should, read more analysis about both these acquisitions over at the Chicago Tribune
