Groupon Co-founder Lefkofsky on Forbes List of Richest Americans

Groupon co-founders haven't seemed too worried about recent negative hype, with good reason: Co-founder Eric Lefkofsky ranks among the 400 richest Americans, according to Forbes Magazine's annual list released Wednesday.

Lefkofsky, the founder of venture-capital fund Lightbank, has his fingers in many pies. He’s also part of an investor group buying the Wrigley Building.

At No. 239 on Forbes' list, Lefkofsky earns an estimated worth of $1.5 billion and joins Chicago’s wealthy with several members of the Pritzker family, Oprah Winfrey, Ty Warner and Joe Mansueto of Morningstar.

The richest Chicagoan remains Sam Zell, the outspoken real estate investor and chairman of Tribune Co. Zell’s private equity is $4.7 billion.

Lefkofsky’s got a ways to go to hit that mark, but considering the growth of his business ventures, he’s got a good chance.
