Go to There: WordPress in a Nutshell Workshop

You’ve no doubt heard it before: Content is king. Right, but how do you get that content online and how do you manage it? The answer to that is also king, and it’s also probably WordPress. It’s a super-versatile CMS publishing platform to run blogs, and because it’s free and open source, it has tons of wrinkles created by users.

In short, it can be very empowering or very intimidating, depending on your skill level and goals. That’s what makes the upcoming two-hour Gizmo Creative Factory, a local graphic design, website and social media workshop, so enticing.

It covers how WordPress works, how to install plugins, how to keep your site secure and how to keep your site from getting bogged down in spam comments or having plugins that don’t play well together. All key factors in becoming the king, or queen, of content.

It runs a cool $25 (hey, you probably have at least that in pocket change right now, don’t you?) and takes place at the Central Lakeview Merchants Association at 3355 N. Clark St. You can read more about it and sign up here.
