Elk Grove Village Releases App to Support Local Businesses

Not only did last week yield Leap Day, but it also marked the week that Elk Grove Village entered the 21st century with an app for citizens to track discounts and events pertaining to businesses in that township. Called Shop Elk Grove, the free app encourages folks to shop locally and it saves them the hassle of going onto every website of places nearby or, if you're really old school, calling them. Here's more from Elk Grove's official announcement:

Through the application, smartphone users can download the unique and free Shop Elk Grove application to their iPhone or Android phones and view “perks” in specific merchandise categories and browse a directory of businesses. Participating merchants can list unlimited “perks,” (e.g. events, loyalty cards, discounts, announcements) and send out push notifications to the application users who are following their business.

To clarify, it's on both Android and iOS devices. It's pretty snazzy, and you can read more about it here.
