The Chicago Bears had trouble finding an adequate role for running back Jordan Howard last season, and now it appears that he could be on the move as the offseason progresses.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, multiple teams approached the Bears during the NFL Combine last week in Indianapolis and talked about potential trade scenarios for the running back.

Howard had a bit of a down season in 2018, but still got close to 1,000 rushing yards, as he racked up 935 yards on the ground. He also scored nine touchdowns, tying his career high, and caught 20 passes for 145 yards out of the backfield.

It’s Howard’s pass-catching that has become a concern for the Bears, as head coach Matt Nagy demands that his running backs be able to catch the ball consistently. Howard worked hard on his pass-catching during training camp in 2018, but the results weren’t there on the field, as he had a career low in catches.

His running ability is his biggest asset, but Howard’s contract is also team-friendly, as he’ll count for just over $2 million next season as he hits the final year of his rookie contract.
