Dobbins Fined $30K for Hit on Cutler

Houston Texans linebacker Tim Dobbins' wallet is $30,000 lighter.

The NFL fined Dobbins for the concussion-causing hit he gave Chicago Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler during Sunday's game.

Dobbins told Comcast SportsNet Chicago he didn't believe a fine was warranted because Cutler was making an illegal forward pass.

"I did not hit him in his head, and actually, he ran into me," Dobbins said after the game. "I just felt like he was going to take off and run with the ball, and I thought he was past the line."

But the league apparently disagreed. NBC Sports points out that the fine levied against Dobbins is more expensive than players normally get for rushing a passer.

The Bears also lost defensive end Shea McClellin because of a concussion in the game's opening minutes.
