Bears Injury Report: David Montgomery, Adam Shaheen Miss Practice Thursday

Montgomery reportedly injured his ankle during Wednesday's practice at Halas Hall

The Chicago Bears’ injury report was noteworthy on Wednesday, as it included running back David Montgomery, but the news didn’t get any better as the team continues preparations for its game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Montgomery, who apparently suffered an ankle injury during Wednesday’s workout at Halas Hall, did not participate in Thursday’s practice either, according to the team. The running back has been a big offensive weapon for the Bears this season, and his absence from practice is unwelcome news ahead of a tough matchup against the defending NFC champion.

Montgomery has rushed for 466 yards and five touchdowns in nine games so far this season. He has also caught 18 passes for 133 yards.

Linebacker Danny Trevathan, tight end Trey Burton, and linebacker Isaiah Irving all missed Thursday’s practice, the second consecutive day that all three were sidelined.

Trevathan could potentially end up on season-ending injured reserve after injuring his elbow during Sunday's win over the Lions, while Irving also missed that game with a quad injury. Burton has missed two straight practices with a calf issue.

There was also a new addition to the Bears’ injury report, as tight end Adam Shaheen missed practice with a foot ailment. With Burton and Shaheen out, the Bears have three tight ends on their roster, including Bradley Sowell. Sowell has become famous this season for bouncing on and off of the Bears’ roster, but he might be able to stick around this time with the team’s top two options at the position both dealing with injuries.
