The Chicago Bears changed things up for their practice on Wednesday night as they held a simulated game at Halas Hall, and the team appears to have dodged a bullet as a key contributor on their offensive line suffered an injury.
According to Bears head coach Matt Nagy, Cody Whitehair suffered a finger injury during the scrimmage, but the coach believes that the lineman will be fine.
“He’s going to be okay,” Nagy said after practice.
The Bears have been taking a cautious approach with injuries to several players on their offense, including wide receiver Anthony Miller, who is dealing with a sprained ankle, and tight end Trey Burton, who is still recovering after offseason sports hernia surgery.

Things got heated during the Wednesday night workout, as offensive lineman Kyle Long was thrown out of the scrimmage after getting into a scuffle with a teammate.
“It was disappointing,” Nagy said. “We’ll handle that internally and make sure we handle it the right way.”

According to reports, Long was ejected from the practice after ripping defensive lineman’s off during a fight, and was not allowed to return to the field.
The scuffle is the second in recent days, as wide receiver Javon Wims and cornerback Prince Amukamara were involved in a heated exchange earlier this week.
