Cody Parkey Expected to Sign With Tennessee Titans, Reports Say

Parkey worked out for the Titans earlier this season

It’s been a long nine months for former Chicago Bears kicker Cody Parkey, but according to multiple reports, he has found a new NFL home.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Parkey is flying to Nashville, and he is expected to sign a contract with the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday.

Parkey, who missed a game-winning kick in the NFC Wild Card Game against the Philadelphia Eagles in January, was cut by the Bears during the offseason, and has worked out for several clubs, including the Titans and the New York Jets.

In Chicago, Parkey's replacement has been off to a strong start for the Bears. Eddy Piñeiro has gone 8-of-9 on field goals so far this season, and has made all nine extra points he's attempted through five games for the Bears.

The Titans were left looking for a new kicker after Cairo Santos missed a total of four field goals in a 14-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon.

Santos, who has made stops with the Bears, Chiefs, Rams, and Buccaneers during his NFL career, was released by the Titans on Monday.

Tennessee has been trying to find a kicker throughout the season, as Ryan Succop was placed on injured reserve prior to the season. He can rejoin the Titans after Week 6 to begin working out, and the club would then have three weeks to determine whether they want to activate him for the remainder of the season.
