Bears Set to Meet with Amini Silatolu: Report

The Chicago Bears have made a lot of moves to upgrade their offensive line this offseason, and it appears that they’re kicking the tires on another one as guard Amini Silatolu is reportedly scheduled to meet with the team.

Silatolu, who appeared in 34 games over the last four seasons with the Carolina Panthers, suffered a torn ACL in a November 2015 game and missed the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs. He met with teams when free agency began earlier this year, according to the report from NBC's Pro Football Talk, but didn’t sign a contract as he continued to rehab from the injury.

The Bears could potentially have two new starters already this season, with Bobby Massie likely to get the first look at right tackle and Cody Whitehair likely competing with Ted Larsen to play at left guard. Silatolu could provide a veteran presence on a line that could potentially have a rookie and a second-year player (Hroniss Grasu) playing key roles, and if he is signed, the team could keep up to eight linemen to begin the season.
