Bears' Rookies Choose Their Jersey Numbers

Roquan Smith will wear number 58, last worn by Jonathan Anderson

The h#mce_temp_url# will begin rookie minicamp later this month, but the team took care of at least one very important order of business on Thursday morning.

In a tweet, the Bears revealed the uniform numbers that their new rookie class, including first round draft pick Roquan Smith, will wear when they hit Soldier Field for the first time:

Smith, selected by the Bears with the number eight overall pick, will wear the number 58 on his jersey this season. Jonathan Anderson wore the number for the past four seasons with the Bears, and famous linebacker Wilber Marshall, who had four interceptions and 78 tackles during the team’s 1985 Super Bowl winning season, also wore the jersey.

Offensive lineman James Daniels will wear number 68 for the Bears, and fellow second round pick Anthony Miller will wear the number 17 jersey. That number has been worn by several noteworthy players, including wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and current New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton.

Linebacker Joel Iyiegbuniwe will don the number 45 when the team begins drills at Halas Hall, while defensive lineman Bilal Nichols will sport the number 98. Pass-rushing specialist Kylie Fitts will wear the number 49, and seventh round pick Javon Wims will wear the number 83 for the Bears.
