Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy said all the right things about kicker Cody Parkey after a rough game, but his actions during Sunday's showdown with the Minnesota Vikings spoke louder than those words.
When Parkey was preparing to kick a key field goal late in the fourth quarter of the game, Nagy kept things light with his kicker, giving him a quick wink and a laugh before the play:
Nagy's calm demeanor seemed to do the trick, as Parkey nailed the field goal and gave the Bears a two-possession lead late in regulation.
To borrow a phrase from Cubs manager Joe Maddon, Nagy's wink seemed to be the perfect example of "not letting the pressure exceed the pleasure," and Parkey's strong game helped the Bears to a fourth straight win and a 7-3 record on the season.
