Kyle Long Returns to Practice Field for Chicago Bears

Long suffered the foot injury against the Jets in late October

Chicago Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long was back on the practice field Friday for the first time since injuring his foot in late October.

According to the Bears, Long was limited in practice, but it was a big step in a long recovery process that has cost him half the season.

Long, who was placed on injured reserve due to the injury in early November, won’t be eligible to play in Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, but there is at least a possibility that he could be activated for the season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.

“It was good to see him out there,” head coach Matt Nagy said. “Today was a great first step. (From here), we’ll just sort of monitor him.”

Long will officially be eligible to be activated from injured reserve next week, and can play in the Bears’ home playoff opener during the first weekend of January.
