‘We're Not Related:' Kyle Long Downplays Going Up Against Brother Chris Sunday

Chris Long has won both matchups between the brothers in their pro careers

Chicago Bears offensive lineman Kyle Long will play in his first ever playoff game on Sunday afternoon, and he’ll be sharing the stage with someone whom he’s known his entire life.

Long’s brother Chris currently plays for the Philadelphia Eagles, and that’s who stands in the Bears’ way as they attempt to win their first playoff game in eight seasons.

That family connection isn’t something that Kyle Long is concerning himself with, however.

“On Sunday, we’re not related,” he said. “He’s on the other team, so I gotta figure out a way to beat him.”

The Long brothers have gone up against one another on two occasions, and Chris Long’s team has come out on top in both games, including a 31-3 drubbing that the Eagles laid on the Bears last season.

To make matters even more intriguing, the brothers’ father Howie Long will be celebrating his birthday on Sunday afternoon, and he will be in the stands along with their mother.

“I don’t think my mom will be able to watch,” Kyle said. “She’ll be there, but she’ll have her eyes covered the whole time. They love their kids, and they’re going to be happy to be here.”

One brother will move on, and the other will go home, when the two teams square off on Sunday. The game will start at 3:40 p.m., and will air on NBC 5.
