Chicago Bears Release TE Dion Sims

Sims appeared in 22 games with the Bears over two seasons

The Chicago Bears made a roster move on Thursday afternoon, officially announcing the release of tight end Dion Sims.

Sims, who was set to make $6 million next season, caught 17 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown in 22 career games with the Bears. He missed eight games during the 2018 season, and never really caught on as a fixture in Matt Nagy’s offense.

The move will save the Bears $6 million on their salary cap for next season, which could come in handy as the evaluate the futures of players like cornerback Bryce Callahan and safety Adrian Amos, both of whom are set to become free agents in March.
