Stage Is Set for Forte

The playing conditions are going to be terrible at best on Monday night. Both the Bears and Vikings players aren't too thrilled about playing on a frozen field.

Add that to the cold and snow predicted for Monday evening, and it means one thing: the Bears will need to run to win. Matt Forte, get ready for your close-up.

Forte isn't as flashy as Adrian Peterson, his counterpart on the Vikings, but he has shown a steady improvement over the season.

Like many of his teammates on offense, Forte hit his stride in the Bears post-bye games. His per-carry average hovered around 2.5 yards early in the season, but since the bye, he's averaged 4.46.

He'll need to continue to prove himself on Monday night, because the Bears are going to need him.

The frozen ground that the Bears are being forced to play on means that it would not be wise for Lovie Smith to have Jay Cutler send many passes high and over the middle of the field. Leaping catches that end in huge crashes to the ground will end up in injury, and the Bears (hopefully) have the postseason to look forward to.

The Bears need you now, Matt.

Are you ready?
