Kevin White Placed on PUP List Ahead of Training Camp

Bears Arrive in Bourbonnais for Training Camp

The Chicago Bears are in Bourbonnais for training camp and this year there is a new kind of excitement as new coach John Fox will be leading the team. NBC Chicago’s Peggy Kusinski reports. (Published Wednesday, July 29, 2015)

The Chicago Bears will hit the practice fields of Bourbonnais on Thursday for their first training camp workouts, but they will be doing so without a couple of players as wide receiver Kevin White and back-up quarterback David Fales will both be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

White, who was selected with the seventh overall pick in April’s NFL Draft, suffered a shin injury during OTA’s, according to Bears G.M. Ryan Pace. The team will take things cautiously with him as camp opens, focusing on getting him fit enough to participate in workouts.

As for Fales, Pace indicated that the quarterback is dealing with an illness, but he did not elaborate on a timetable for his return to the field.

Putting White and Fales on the PUP list is likely a procedural move by the Bears, since they would be unable to place them on the list if they participated in any training camp work. They can both be activated at any time, and in the meantime both can participate in off-field work and meetings.

The Bears will also have several other players limited in workouts, with linebackers Lamarr Houston, Willie Young and Jon Bostic all dealing with their own ailments. Houston is still recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered while celebrating a sack during the 2014 season. Young ruptured his Achilles tendon late in the year as well, and Bostic has been dealing with back trouble during the offseason.
