Ditka Curse Ends as Packers Beat Vikings Sunday Night

The dreaded Ditka Curse has been vanquished as the Green Bay Packers went into Minneapolis and knocked off the division-leading Minnesota Vikings on Sunday evening.

The victory snaps a three game losing streak for the Packers, who will next take on the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field on Thanksgiving.

The Packers had been held winless ever since former Bears coach Mike Ditka donned a Green Bay Packers sweater in a McDonald’s advertisement in late October. Since then, the Packers were knocked off by three teams, including the Detroit Lions, who had not beaten Green Bay at Lambeau Field since the 1991 NFL season.

The Dallas Cowboys were also the victims of a McDonald’s related-curse, as San Francisco 49’ers great Jerry Rice donned their jersey in an ad, but they too snapped that streak on Sunday as Tony Romo led them to a victory over the Miami Dolphins.
