Al's Beef Brings Back Da Ditka Dog

The Mike Ditka-inspired dog will be offered through July for National Hot Dog Month

Just in time for National Hot Dog Month, Da Coach's "Spicy Jumbo Ditka Dog" is back at Al's Italian Beef.

The char-grilled, monster sausage boasts itself as almost three times the size of a traditional hot dog, weighing in at 1/3 pound on an 8-inch poppy seed bun.

The Spicy Jumbo Ditka Dog, priced at $6.95, will be available in three styles:

  • Original- mustard, relish, onion, and sport peppers
  • Chicago Style- mustard, relish, onion, sport peppers, sliced tomato, and kosher pickle spear
  • Maxwell- mustard, grilled onion, and sport peppers

The legendary dog will be made of Ditka's namesake Vienna Beef is available for a limited time only during the month of July at Al's Italian Beef locations across the country.

And if anyone knows their Chicago dogs, it's Da Coach.

In 2013 Ditka officially partnered with Vienna Beef to make his own premium dinner sausage called, yep, Ditka Sausages. The line is served up in select restaurants and grocers nationwide.

“These sausages embody Chicago," former Bears coach Mike Ditka said. "The tradition, the teams, the fans, the big appetites— Chicago deserves a monster sausage they can be proud of. I think I’m going to go have one right now.”
