Alshon Jeffery, Shea McClellin Miss Bears Practice

Jeffery is dealing with leg issues, while McClellin is going through concussion protocol

In news that will put a bit of a downer on the Christmas spirit of Chicago Bears fans, the team held a practice on Wednesday afternoon, and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery did not participate.

Jeffery, who has been dealing with a variety of leg issues throughout the season, continues to be hampered as the Bears prepare to face former head coach Lovie Smith and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Jeffery did play against the Minnesota Vikings in last week’s game, but he only had one catch in the contest and was on the sideline for numerous portions of the action.

Linebacker Shea McClellin also missed practice on Wednesday as he continues to go through the NFL’s concussion protocol after suffering the injury in Sunday’s loss to Minnesota. McClellin is a big part of the Bears’ defense up the middle, and with the struggles of Christian Jones (and the inexperience of John Timu), the team has to hope that he’ll clear protocol and be ready to play.

The Bears also had a group of players that were limited on the practice field at Halas Hall, with Eddie Royal, Pernell McPhee, Bryce Callahan, Adrian Amos, and Tracy Porter all limited in the workout.
