Al's Beef Names Ditka as New Spokesman

The announcement was made at the site of a new Al’s Beef location, at 234 S. Wabash Ave, which is slated to open later this month

One of Chicago’s famous Italian Beef hot spots just got a little more, well, Chicago.

In a partnership that will likely please fans of Saturday Night Live’s “Superfans” skit, Al’s Beef and Nancy’s Pizza announced Tuesday that Da Coach, Mike Ditka, would be the companies’ new spokesman.

The announcement was made at the site of a new Al’s Beef location, at 234 S. Wabash Ave, which is slated to open later this month.

Ditka’s role with the restaurants will include scouting new restaurant locations across the country and advising on restaurant experience, branding, menu items and brand marketing efforts. The announcement is part of franchise owner Dave Howey’s national expansion plan.

Da Coach has been known for his meaty influence among Chicago food staples.

Last year, he revealed his own brand of Vienna Beef sausages, named Ditka sausages, which were served as Ditka Restaurants as well as Gold Coast Dogs, America’s Dogs, Mickey’s Hot Dogs, Arlington Racecourse and Vienna Beef’s Factory Store. And of course, Soldier Field.
