Speed Dating…Go!

Rob Elgas and I hosted the Sizzlin' Summer Soulmate Search at Harry Caray's Tavern last week. Here's Rob getting ready to have the daters switch after three minutes. We did this 15 times over the course of the evening. Did we find any lovebirds? Probably not, but see for yourself with all of our photos on our Facebook page.

**Sometimes in traffic, we have those days that blow up out of nowhere. Today between 5am and 5:30, here's what went down:

-someone jumped in front of a METRA train in Highland Park
-a CTA Blue Line train got stranded near O'Hare
-a building caught fire on the west side
-a car ran into the wall on the Tri-State at Cicero

Oh and there were no delays on any of the expressways. So essentially, a lot of people were affected but not on the highway. Kind of strange, but very busy as we tried to understand the scope of the transit deals.

**Last night, I ran three miles for charity and did okay. It was the first annual Rundown Alzheimers event at US Cellular Field and I was joined by former White Sox outfielder Ron Kittle. He didn't run, but I was happy to finish in the top 15. I'm not in great shape, but I'm not even 30 yet and if I can't run 3 miles at a decent pace, then I should be worried.

Still it was a struggle and hopefully if I run more consistantly (and maybe say eat better than I do), I can be in better shape overall. I am more competitive with myself than others in a road race. Which is a good thing, because it could be a disaster if you outpace yourself.

The most important thing is that we raised over $15,000 for the Alzheimers Association and if you would like to contribute, it's not too late! Just click the link right here.

Next week, the charity train continues in Geneva on Friday. Read about the Viva Geneva event courtesy of today's Daily Herald.

**Oh by the way, I almost mentioned the WNBA's Chicago Sky today in a report since Candace Parker is in town and there might be close to a sellout at the UIC Pavillion.

Almost.

**This story snuck by me yesterday about Alderman Eugene Schulter (47th) wanting to tear down the Western Avenue overpass in Roscoe Village. Hmmm, I smell a trivia question coming tomorrow.

**Don't ride your bike in this guy's neighborhood!
