Regina Waldroup joined the NBC 5 news team in 2013 as a general assignment reporter.
Regina began her broadcasting career as an intern at NBC 5 for now-retired investigative reporter Renee Ferguson. Regina also has worked at CBS, NBC and Fox news stations in Oregon and New York.
A native of Chicago's south suburbs, Regina is the youngest girl among eight siblings. Regina holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Roosevelt University and a master's degree in journalism from Columbia College Chicago. Regina also is an adjunct journalism instructor at Columbia College and the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn. At Columbia, she teaches a course in which students prepare and produce a weekly news program for Chicago cable television.
In her spare time, Regina enjoys traveling, cooking, gardening and caring for her pet turtles. Regina and her husband, David Mendell, are the parents of Maya Anne. They live in Oak Park.
