Man Falls Through Ice in Streamwood

Child transported to St. Alexias Hospital in Hoffman Estates

A man was transported to the hospital Monday afternoon after falling through the ice of a small pond in Streamwood.

Calls initally indicated a child had fallen through the ice of a pond in Glenwood Park, off of East Schaumburg Road, in the northwest suburb. The victim was actually a 43-year-old man who was riding his bike and somehow ended up in the pond.

Officials said the man was in the water for about 10 minutes.

He was transported to St. Alexias Hospital in Hoffman Estates where officials said he was responding but was suffering from hypothermia.

The incident comes one day after a well-respected father of two died in McHenry County after falling through the ice while playing hockey with his son.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
