City manager Sean Stegall posted the message on Elgin’s official Facebook page shortly before midnight, saying: "We are pulling some snow plows off the road now. It is simply too dangerous. They cannot see due to white out conditions."
Elgin Mayor Ed Schock declared a state of emergency Tuesday, and forecasters are predicting the northwest suburb will receive at least a foot of snow, according to a release on the city’s website.
