Chance for Severe Storms Sunday Afternoon, Evening

After a relatively cool morning, high temperatures will hit the upper 70s and low 80s

Severe weather could head toward the Chicago area later Sunday following a cool, rainy morning.

There is a chance for scattered showers and storms in the afternoon and early evening, with the greatest chance south and southwest of Chicago.

The region south of I-80 is in the marginal risk for severe storms, meaning one or two storms could develop into severe weather with heavy rain and gusty winds.

The morning showers hit the Chicago area hardest south and west of the city. By 1 p.m. Sunday, Northwest Indiana will likely see rain showers from the same system.

After a relatively cool morning, high temperatures will hit the upper 70s and low 80s Sunday.

Temperatures will stay in the upper 70s and low 80s the rest of the week. The next chance for storms is expected to hit Monday.
