The winter weather roller-coaster is about to take another turn for the Chicago area.
Temperatures reached near 50 degrees in some areas Monday, just one week after a polar vortex brought wind chills near -40 degrees.
But a Tuesday system is expected to bring cooler temps and snow back into the forecast.
A rain/sleet/snow mix is expected just after the morning commute. That will lead to heavier snow at around 1 p.m. Lighter snow is expected by about 6 p.m. Models showed accumulations between 1" and 2".
In Wisconsin, a Winter Weather Advisory was issued for Kenosha County and several counties beginning Tuesday morning and continuing throughout the day. The advisory predicts 3 to 5 inches of snow and winds of up 20 mph.
A special weather statement was also issued for nearly all of the Chicago area.
The statement warns of an "intense band of snow" Tuesday morning with strong winds possible Tuesday evening.

The snow could impact the morning rush hour is a quick 1 to 2 inches could fall during the morning hours, with wind gusts in excess of 40 mph possible during the evening hours.
Counties in the weather statement include DeKalb, Kankakee, McHenry, Lake, Kane, DuPage, Cook, Kendall, Will and Grundy in Illinois and Jasper, Lake and Newton counties in Indiana.
The snow is expected to move out of the area by Wednesday morning as temps begin to fall.
Wednesday’s high is forecast at 20 degrees and snow could return late Thursday and Friday morning.
