Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Make Way to Chicago

Rain and thunderstorms will persist through much of the week, but temperatures will stay relatively warm throughout

After a beautiful weekend of sun and 70-degree weather, the Chicago area will be hit with heavy rain and thunderstorms Sunday night and Monday.

The Chicago area can expect to see the heaviest rain by 7 p.m., bringing with it thunder, lightning and possibly dime-sized hail.

The heavy rain will only last about an hour, but scattered showers and thunderstorms will persist throughout the night and into Monday.

Temperatures will remain relatively high throughout the entire week with a chance for thunderstorms sticking around through Wednesday and returning again by Friday or Saturday.

The temperature is expected to drop slightly to the mid to upper 60s on Monday and Tuesday, but Chicago will see 80 degrees again by Thursday.
