Central, Southern Illinois Ripe for Severe Weather

Parts of Southern and Central Illinois are going from the freezer to the frying pan.

The National Weather Service reports that parts of Central and Southern Illinois are under a slight risk for severe thunderstorms as early as Thursday.

April marks the beginning of severe weather season, meaning floods, tornadoes and severe thunderstorms can threaten at any time.

Residents of Central Illinois cities like Washington and Peoria are still recovering from a series of devastating tornadoes that ripped through the area in November.
