Amtrak Modifies Service Ahead of Winter Weather

Amtrak announced Saturday that it will operate on modified schedules for Chicago hub services Monday in preparation for extremely cold temperatures forecast for the area.

The cancellations are designed to maintain service on all routes, while reducing exposure of Amtrak passengers, crews, and rail equipment to extreme weather conditions, officials said.

Passengers are urged to use caution making their way to and from stations and should expect delays in the expected bitter cold.

The following services will not be available Monday:

  • Lincoln Service Trains 300, 301, 306 & 307
  • Hiawatha Service Trains 329, 332, 333, 336, 337 & 340
  • Wolverine Service Trains 350 & 355
  • Illinois Zephyr & Carl Sandburg Trains 382 & 383

Service schedules are expected to be updated Monday afternoon with potential cancellations Tuesday.
