The Chicago area has a wet remainder of the week in store, with periods of heavy rain and the chance of potentially strong to severe thunderstorms in some areas.
Tuesday morning will begin overcast with periods of rain, moderate to heavy at times, but dry hours in between. A few isolated thunderstorms will develop in far southern counties in the late afternoon and evening from Pontiac to Kankakee and east to Rensselaer. The isolated storms could be strong to severe.
Highs will be cooler along the lakefront with temperatures in the 50s, but will rise into the 60s and even a few low 70s inland.
Powerful winds gusts may reach upwards of 25 mph.
Some occasional showers and drizzle will continue overnight, with areas of fog; breezy and cool.
Wednesday will be overcast with drizzle and areas of fog in the morning, turning partly sunny and warmer in the afternoon with a few showers and isolated storms possible late afternoon or evening. Highs in the 50s along the lakefront, but quickly rising through the 60s into the 70s inland.
Thursday begins as another wet day, with a mostly cloudy morning and a few early showers before turning partly sunny, breezy and mild. Highs in the upper 60sto low 70s.

Friday will be slightly brighter and partly sunny with a few late day showers possible; breezy and cooler. Highs in the low to mid 60s.
As for the weekend, models show Saturday will be mostly cloudy again with a few early morning showers possible before turning mostly sunny, breezy and quite cool. Highs in the mid to upper 50s.
Sunday will see partly sunny skies, breezy and still cool for the season. A few showers possible in the evening. Highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.
Monday: Cloudy with more showers likely, continued cool. Highs in the low to mid 60s.
