3 Killed in Chicago Rollover Crash

Vehicle rolled over near West 31st Street and South Western Avenue at about 8:30 p.m.

Three people have died following a Tuesday night crash on Chicago's southwest side.

Paramedics responded to the crash near West 31st Street and South Western Avenue about 8:30 p.m. and took three people, ages 40, 46 and 57, to Mount Sinai Hospital, according to a fire department spokesperson.

Only one vehicle was involved in the crash, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. It rolled over, possibly after hitting a pole, he said.

One person was in "extremely critical" condition after the wreck, while two others are in critical condition, a spokesman said.

They later were pronounced dead after 9 p.m. at the hospital, News Affairs confirmed Wednesday morning.

They were identified by the medical examiner's office as Phillip Barnes, 46, of 1528 S. Ludington Circle in Romeoville; Yvonne Tobias, 57, of 420 S. Homan Ave.; and Leantwana Roseburr, 40, of 4900 S. Gladys Ave.

It's not clear whether alcohol or weather played a part in the crash. Crews from the police Major Accident Investigation Unit remained at the scene late Tuesday.
