An Illinois pilot survived a single-engine plane crash in eastern Indiana on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Indiana State Police said 59-year-old Richard Kingston of Norris City, Illinois, was conscious and alert when troopers located him. Authorities said they responded to a report of a plane crash in southeastern Delaware County.

Troopers were taken by tractor to the scene, where they found Kingston. He was the only person aboard. Emergency workers extricated him from the 1990 single-engine Raytheon aircraft. It had skidded across a harvested corn field into an area of cut trees.

Kingston was taken to a Muncie hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The FAA was investigating.
