Lanes have reopened after a semi truck crash on the Bishop Ford Freeway that sent a truck driver to an area hospital in critical condition Thursday afternoon near south suburban South Holland.
The one-vehicle crash happened at 12:33 p.m. on a ramp from the northbound Bishop Ford -- Interstate 94 -- that leads to eastbound 159th Street in South Holland, said Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sgt. S. Nowak.
A semi truck flat bed trailer which was hauling 4x8 sheets of steel was driving too fast on the ramp and rolled over.
The driver, a man, was pulled from the truck and airlifted to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition. A female passenger was uninjured, Nowak said.
Northbound and southbound lanes were reopened at around 3 p.m.
