Metra: BNSF Derailment Near Aurora Could Delay Morning Trains

Six people were on train when it came off tracks, agency says

Metra BNSF trains could experience delays during the Wednesday morning commute after a train derailed near west suburban Aurora.

Train No. 1324 derailed outside of Aurora on the BNSF Railway, according to a service alert posted to Metra’s website at 1:45 a.m.

According to the alert, the derailment could delay inbound and outbound trains between Chicago and Aurora during the morning rush hours.

Crews are at the scene working to clear the derailment and restore normal service, Metra said.
