3 Injured in Chain-Reaction Crash Near DeKalb

Drivers of van, two tractor-trailers hospitalized after crash on Interstate 88

Three people were hospitalized Thursday following a chain-reaction crash involving a van and three tractor-trailers near DeKalb.

The three trucks, all eastbound on the Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway (Interstate 88), had slowed for traffic, authorities said. The driver of the van, authorities said, rear-ended one of the trucks near the Dauberman and Watson roads exit.

The driver of the van and two of the three semi truck drivers were hospitalized, said Illinois State Police, who called the injuries serious.

An NBC Chicago viewer said helicopters landed in the area and that there was a lot of dust in the air.
