One lane of the Tri-State Tollway remain closed Friday afternoon near northwest suburban Park Ridge after a tractor-trailer crashed and spilled part of its load.
The crash happened about 2:05 p.m. on Interstate 294 between Devon and Touhy, according to Illinois State Police.
The truck hit the outer left wall, causing the trailer to rupture and spill some of its contents onto the left shoulder, police said.
The driver, a Chicago man, was following too closely, according to police, and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for a minor injury.
The left lanes both northbound and southbound were initially closed as crews clean up and investigate the crash.
As of 5:45 p.m., the northbound lane has reopened but the southbound lane remains closed.
