Man Falls Between CTA Cars in Loop

Incident temporarily suspended service on Brown, Pink, Purple and Orange lines

A man was critically hurt when he stumbled and fell between two train cars Monday evening in the Loop.

The person approached the train, stumbled and fell between rail cars near the Library station, said Chicago Transit Authority spokeswoman Katherine Hosinski, citing preliminary information.

The person apparently did not make contact with the electrically-charged third rail.

Paramedics took the man to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious-to -critical condition about 7:15 p.m., Fire Media Affairs spokesman Kevin MacGregor said. The person was conscious and breathing, Hosinski said.

All service on the Brown, Pink, Purple and Orange lines were suspended between the Washington / Wells and Library stations, the CTA said.

Train service was limited to the Lake and Wabash side of the Loop.
