Bicyclist Struck, Killed by CTA Train

Ronayne Thomas went around the gates near the Kedzie station on the Brown Line, police said.

A man on a bike was struck and killed by a Chicago Transit Authority Brown Line train early Thursday morning.

Ronayne Thomas, 31, was struck by a northbound train as he attempted to go around the gates near the Kedzie station in the 4600 block of Kedzie Avenue shortly before 12:30 a.m., police said.

Brown Line service was suspended for a short time between the Kimball and Western stops because authorities cut the power to the track.

Passengers were put on shuttle buses and routed around the closure.

Thomas lived on the 1900 block of North Drake Avenue, a spokesperson with the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office told NBC Chicago.
