A police officer responding to a burglary was injured in a traffic accident Monday in the North Side Avondale neighborhood.

The officer was responding to call of a burglary in progress when he crashed into another vehicle at North Sacramento Avenue and West George Street about 1:15 p.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

The officer was taken in a good to fair condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Kevin MacGregor said.

No one else was injured.
