Truck Crashes into CTA Red Line Station

Two hurt Sunday after truck smashes into Red Line station

Two people were seriously hurt Sunday night when a pickup truck crashed into the Red Line stop at 87th Street.

Police said the truck got into a fender bender on the Dan Ryan before jumping the curb and rocketing into the glass double doors of the CTA station just before 9 p.m., according to the Chicago Tribune.

The driver of the truck was suspected of a previous offense just minutes before the accident, and Illinois State police handled the crash as a result, the Tribune reports.

State police said the driver was being held pending DUI charges.

Two people from the crash were rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. One was last listed in critical condition, while the other was listed in serious condition.
