The CTA welcomes the first-ever Starbucks at the North/Clybourn station.

Grabbing Starbucks coffee just got more convenient.

The first-ever Starbucks location at an "L" stop will open later this year at the North/Clybourn Red Line station, CTA officials announced Friday.

The new store will be located adjacent to the nearby Apple store in an effort to attract commuters and shoppers in the area.

“The high customer traffic on the Red Line in addition to foot traffic near the Apple store is an attractive opportunity for any concession retailer and we are pleased Starbucks will be our latest tenant,” said CTA President Forrest Claypool in a statement.

Claypool said Starbucks was among 32 bidders for the 776-square-foot location. The coffee chain agreed to a 10-year lease with options to extend the agreement after the preliminary term.

The store makes 89 leased spaces across the transit system.
