Predictions for another inch or two of snow were updated Tuesday morning. The quick clipper should only leave the area with a light dusting of snow before it quickly moves out of the area.

Predictions for up to two inches of snowfall during the Tuesday morning hours were downgraded in advance of the system reaching the Chicago area.

The bulk of any accumulation -- perhaps an inch -- will be along the Illinois/Wisconsin state line, NBC Chicago's Andy Avalos said.

The rest of the area will see just a dusting, and likely not enough to create serious problems for the morening commute.

Once that quick clipper system moves out of the area, the weather story for the day will be the wind. Gusts are likely to be in the 30 to 35 MPH hour range, significantly impacting the wind chill temperatures.

Highs Tuesday are expected to be in the upper 20s and low 30s, but that wind chill will make it feel like it's in the teens.

Tuesday night, look for partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Light rain and flurries are predicted during the rest of the week with highs in the low 30s.

Finishing last-minute shopping? The weekend before Christmas looks mostly cloudy, breezy and colder with a few snow showers possible and lows of 30 degrees.
