3 Hurt in Mack Truck Roll-Over Crash on Dan Ryan

Three people involved in the crash were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries

Three people were hurt when a cement truck rolled over onto a car Friday afternoon on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

The Mack truck and a Chevrolet Cobalt were both in the northbound lanes of the expressway near 47th Street about 1 p.m. when the Cobalt swerved and struck the truck, according to Illinois State Police.

Both vehicles swerved to the left and struck the median, which caused the truck to fall over onto the Cobalt and spill dried concrete, according to state police.

Both drivers and a passenger in the Cobalt suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospitals, state police said.

According to Fire Media, one person was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition.

All local northbound lanes and the right express lane of the expressway reopened at about 4:20 p.m., according to state police. Traffic was previously getting by on the right shoulder and left express lane.
