Southbound lanes of Interstate 394 were shut down Tuesday morning after a semi carrying hazardous materials caught fire in south suburban Glenwood.

Illinois State Police said a truck carrying eight 55-gallon drums of a hazardous, flammable material, caught fire shortly after 2 a.m. near Glenwood Lansing Road. Officials said it appeared the truck was carrying deoxidizer.

Both lanes of the interstate were shut down as hazmat crews worked to clear the scene. The left lane of the interstate was reopened by 5:45 a.m.

    No injuries were reported.
