A 22-year-old woman was driving west on I-80 Thursday when a dark-colored pick-up truck drove up behind her

A pickup truck driver shot at an Orland Park woman Thursday during a road rage incident while driving on Interstate 80, Indiana State Police said.

The 22-year-old woman was driving her 2004 Honda Civic west on I-80 around 9:03 p.m when a dark-colored truck drove up behind her. Police said the truck, driven by an older white male with white hair and a baseball cap, tailgated the woman for about a mile.

At one point the truck tried to force the Honda into the concrete median wall and then tried to push the her vehicle to the right with his truck. Police said he drove back to the right side of the woman and waved a silver small-caliber handgun in the air.

The woman told police she heard a “bang” from a bullet that went into her passenger door. A shard of plastic from the door struck her hand, but she was not hit by the bullet, police said.

The man drove off across all lanes and exited at Cline Avenue. The woman sustained an abrasion and refused medical treatment

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call Indiana State Police Detective Campione at 219-696-6242.
