Private Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Gary

A small private jet made an emergency landing at a northwest Indiana airport Friday morning after smoke was detected in the cockpit.

The plane, a two-engine British Aerospace jet, landed at Gary/Chicago International Airport after reports of smoke in its cockpit, an FAA spokesman said.

Further details on the plane’s flight plan, or whether it was arriving at or leaving Gary at the time of the incident, were not immediately available, the FAA said.

The 15-seat British Aerospace HS 125-700A was manufactured in 1983 and is registered to a corporation called Seven Hundred NP LLC, based out of Valparaiso, Ind., according to federal records.

The plane’s flight plan was not available for public tracking on FlightAware.com by request of its owner.
